Private Lessons Coach
Joey has 13 years of coaching experience ranging from middle school, high school, and club. Joey has coached with Mizuno Nor Cal, Mendenhall Middle School, Granada High School, and Renegades Volleyball Club and Pacific Rim Volleyball Academy. He is also an alumni of the Granada High School Men’s Volleyball program, and Los Medanos College Men’s program.
This is Joey’s second season with Core Volleyball Club, and he is excited to join the fun, excitement, and competition that Core Volleyball Club offers. With a handful of former players either currently playing in college or have finished up careers playing at the college level, Joey brings knowledge, passion, and commitment to teaching the game of volleyball.
2019 17 Elite Assistant Coach
Gabrielle Cowden was a four-year starter for the University of the Pacific, an NCAA Division I program. She was named team captain in both her Junior and Senior seasons and led the Big West Conference in Aces in the 2012 season. As a starting middle blocker she consistently hit over .300 and shifted in her senior year to the outside hitter position where she was named MVP of the Idaho Invitational Tournament at the start of the year.
Gabrielle was an all-star club player and with her team qualified to compete in the elite Open division of the USA Junior Nationals at the 15s, 16s, 17s and 18s years. She ended her club play at 18s by winning a bronze medal at the Open Junior Nationals championship in Miami.
In addition to her club play, Gabrielle also participated in the regional and national USA High Performance programs. Her USA regional team won a bronze medal at the European junior championships in Maribor, Slovenia and as a rising junior she was invited to play middle blocker on the USA Youth National team (A2) and competed in the championships in Ft. Lauderdale.
Gabrielle has coached youth players throughout her playing years as both a club coach and instructor at college youth camps. Now a college graduate, Gabrielle has returned to the local area and is extremely pleased to join her former high school coach Prima Elam and become part of the Core Volleyball family. She brings a great deal of playing and coaching experience in addition to her boundless enthusiasm for the sport. She will be assisting her father Jack Cowden in coaching the 16-1s team during the 2014 season and will be an integral part of the training and developing of future college players.

18 Elite Head Coach
Jack Cowden has been involved with Women’s and Men’s youth sports for over 25 years. He was an NCAA athlete in college and has also coached multiple sports at all levels and ages. He has assisted many athletes over the years in reaching their goal of “playing at the next level”.
For the past 12 years Jack has focused his athletic associations primarily with women’s volleyball. He has helped train his two daughters from a recreational to a highly competitive level. Both his daughters were division 1 volleyball scholarship athletes at top universities. Both Jacqueline and Gabrielle played four (4) years respectively.
He has coached all ages of athletes. Presently, he coaches girl’s youth volleyball at the club level and at a four year NCAA Division 2 University. Previously, he was the first assistant at Foothill College where they won conference championships from 2009 -2011. He coached in the regional girl’s High Performance program for four years. Recently, he assisted in the start up of the national women’s professional league (PVL) through USA volleyball and the NCVA in 2012 and had a final four finish in the National Championships, Louisville, Kentucky 2013 as head coach. He is closely associated with many collegiate coaches and has participated in numerous training and coaching seminars. Jack has been trained in the Gold Medal Squared System and has multiple coaching certifications. He is CAP lll certified as well as holding an impact Instructor certification from USA volleyball.
Jack brings a great understanding of the “trinity of coaching” (the balance of mind, body and spirit.) He has a great ability to incorporate sports with life skill lessons. His long term experience with youth sports and knowledge of the game is invaluable in teaching and coaching volleyball.
Sarah De Haro

2019 14 Elite Head Coach
Arin has been playing volleyball for 17 years, discovering his talent and love for the game early in Middle School. He lettered in volleyball all years in High School, attending both California High and Dublin High and competing in NCS as an Outside Hitter. He received both 1st and 2nd Team league honors for California High School. Arin played club at Diablo Valley Volleyball Club for 3 years, finishing in Gold his 17’s year where he was the captain and travelled to Junior Olympics placing in the top 15. He was then recruited to play for Long Beach State but decided to stay local and go to San Jose State University. At SJSU, Arin captained the team for 3 years, competing in the College Club National’s with three Top-15 finishes. His passion for competing on the court has not wavered as he plays in numerous adult leagues and with various travelling teams competing across the country. He has high-level experience as a setter, outside hitter, middle and libero.
His passion for coaching started at a young age, as Arin coached Pine Valley Middle School’s volleyball program while he attended and played at California High School. He has also coached at numerous club programs in the Tri-Valley at various age groups; 12’s, 14’s and 13’s. Most recently he was the Head coach of a 15-1’s team that finished in the Bronze division and competed at AAU Nationals in Florida. Arin has also head-coached the California High School JV Men’s program for multiple years. He is IMPACT certified.
Svjetlana Djurdjic (Ana)
Coach Ana has over twenty years of volleyball experience. She was representing Republic of Srpska national team when she was discovered by one of the coaches from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. She came to the U.S. on full athletic scholarship with a desire to take the most out of the opportunity. After her freshmen year, she transferred from the University of Arkansas to Lyon College, NAIA Division I school where she continued to grow as passionate, persistent and hard-working student athlete. During four years of her college volleyball experience, she was named NAIA scholar athlete three times along with receiving First Team All-TranSouth Conference and Second Team All-TranSouth Conference honors.
After graduating with Bachelor’s in Finance and Economics, Ana moved to Los Angeles and became one of the head coaches at Beach Cities Volleyball Club in Manhattan Beach. She coached girls and boys teams from 8 to 18 years of age. She continued using her volleyball skills to positively impact young generations and help them become focused, passionate, competitive and well-rounded athletes.
Ana continuously works on inspiring young athletes to stay motivated, ambitious and driven to make the most out of every opportunity not only on volleyball court but in everyday life.
Kaitlin Ecabert (Kai)

2017-2018 Season Coach Of The Year
Kaitlin has eight years of playing and coaching experience which includes middle school, high school and club. Kaitlin returns for her 4th season with Core and will be coaching the 12 Elite Team. Last season her 12 Elite team finished 6th overall. Kaitlin looks to continue the success of the 12’s age group by developing players and instill the love of the game. Kaitlin’s certifications include Safesport and Impact.
17 Elite Head Coach
Prima has 22 years of coaching experience ranging from high school, club, college, and the Men’s Professional Volleyball League. Prima has been involved in volleyball almost her entire life. Her playing experience includes Sacramento City College. As a member of the Sacramento City College team, she played opposite and helped the team finish 4th in the State of California. Prima then went on to finish her playing and academic career at Cal State Hayward.
Prima has been involved in the NCVA Regional High-Performance Program since 2007. She is also a USA High-Performance Volleyball Camp Coach, and has worked with the top A1 athletes in the country. Prima also represented the Northern California Region as the Head Coach of the Boys Regional High Performance Team. The team competes at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships every summer where they earned back to back silver medals and competed in the International Division with two 4th place finishes. This past summer the Regional High Performance Team won a Bronze Medal in the International Division., the year before that the team earned a Gold Medal in the International Division.
Twelve years ago she founded Core Volleyball Club to give opportunities to female athletes to have a safe, fun, and competitive environment to achieve their goals.
Prima’s certifications include USA CAP II, Gold Medal Squared, Impact, Positive Coaching Alliance, and Champions of Character (NAIA).
Prima resides in Dublin with her husband Justin and her two beautiful daughters Kiana and Gabriela.
13 Elite Head Coach
Roger Hauk has a Masters Degree in Kinesiology and is USAV Cap, Impact and Gold Medal Squared certified. He has been coaching for three decades and continues his passion for learning and continuing to develop new skills and methods for teaching the great game of volleyball. He has coached College Men’s, Women’s, boys and girls High School Varsity, Freshman and JV, and Middle School for many years. He has also coached at a wide variety of Club programs. He is currently in his fifth season as a Girls’ Coach at CORE Volleyball. Roger is also a coach for the NCVA High Performance Program. He was named the Head Coach of the Northern CA Regional High Performance Team and led his team to not only a perfect record, but also won Gold at the 2014 USA High Performance Championships in Tulsa, OK. He will be the head coach for the Regional Team for the 2015 HP Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
2019 16 Black Head Coach
Molly has been playing volleyball for 14 years. She started off playing on a CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and continued to play through middle school as well as high school. She was a versatile player and received 2nd team all league and 1st team all league honors in High School. She played for different clubs throughout my volleyball career and had several accomplishments including a Silver at the Volleyball Festival. Molly was recruited out of High School and played for Foothill College as a setter. Molly finished in the top 10 for assists in the State of California as well as top 10 for aces.
Molly has been coaching for 9 years. Molly’s coaching career started with CYO and then she moved to 7th and 8th graders . Molly also coached for a local club in Fremont for 2 years assisting and one year as a head coach. Molly joined Core after that and will be starting her 4th year at Core. She has coached several teams at Core including 14s area, 14-2 power, 13-1 power and 15-3 power. Molly also coached for American high school in Fremont for both girls and boys and Newark Memorial High School. Molly certifications include USA Volleyball Impact Certification and Positive Coaching Alliance.

Joe returns to Core VBC with 5 years of coaching experience including High School, and Club. He has a passion for coaching volleyball and prides himself on turning average players into exceptional players. Joe believes in a positive coaching environment. His certifications include Impact, and Positive Coaching Alliance. He is a NCS CIF certified coach.
2019 14 Premier Assistant Coach
Lyndsie comes to Core with 10 years of coaching and playing experience. She played club volleyball for NCVC for 5 years on their Elite Teams and was provided the opportunity to coach with them as well. She was also an assistant volleyball coach for 7th & 8th grade boys at Warren T. Eich Junior High in Roseville. She was recruited to play volleyball after high school and finished her academic and playing career with a Degree in Communications from San Francisco State. Lyndsie is extremely passionate about volleyball and working with kids. She brings to Core a love of the game, knowledge of playing and coaching at a high level. We are very happy to add Lyndsie to the Core Volleyball Club family.
14 Premier Head Coach
Andrea returns for her fourth season at Core VBC. Andrea is the Head of the Dublin High Girls Program, where she will lead them to their first EBAL Conference competition this season. Andrea has been focused on the development of our 2nd team players, and many of them have gone on to compete at our Elite Team levels, and make their middle school and high school teams. Andrea’s certifications include Gold Medal Squared, USA Volleyball Impact Certification, and Positive Coaching Alliance.
2019 15 Elite Assistant Coach
Brittney attended Livermore High where she played Varsity Volleyball and Softball all four years, earning Team Captain and All-League honors. She later received a Volleyball Scholarship to Holy Names University a NCVAA Division II University in Oakland, CA. She was the starting setter who was named first team all league both years. Brittney has always loved the competition and the fast pace of the game. Nothing feels better than tricking the entire opposing team where the ball is going to be set. Brittney brings her knowledge and experience of setting and playing at a high level to the program. Brittney has been coaching on and off for 8 years. Those years include Livermore High, Nor Cal VBC, and East Bay VBC. She is very excited to be apart of Core VBC this season and looks forward to motivating and help girls reach their goals.

2019 16 Elite Assistant Coach
Lindsay has been involved with volleyball since 2008. She played all four years at California High School, two seasons at Core, and two years at Diablo Valley Community College as a middle blocker. She was the captain during her senior year of high school, second year at DVC, and for both seasons at Core (18-1s). Lindsay was also All League Honorable Mentioned as a middle in 2011.
Playing and coaching for Core was one of the best decisions she has made. Lindsay started her coaching career in 2012 with coaching 12 premier and 13 power. Over the years, she has coached all age groups from premier to power as both a head coach and an assistant coach. Core is a place where Lindsay shares her passion and love for this sport. She uses skills she has learned from USA Volleyball and Gold Medal Squared. Lindsay wants players to grow and improve on and off the court.
2019 15 Elite Head Coach
Brenda Woodsmall is returning for her fifth season at Core VBC. Brenda has 19 years of coaching experience including both club and high school, combined with over 20 years of playing experience including her campaign at North West College. Brenda has two passions, teaching and coaching volleyball. Brenda is a Special Education Teacher at Granada High School. She is passionate about volleyball and helping girl’s achieve their potential. Brenda believes that volleyball is about working hard and having a ton of fun while you’re doing it. She is looking to lead the 16 Elite team to Nationals.
